I'll admit I'll pick up plants basically anywhere-- Home Depot, Ocean State Job Lot-- I'm not too snobby.  But as I like to focus on native Massachusetts plants and plants raised as responsibly as possible, I do my best to buy the majority of my plants from the below locations.

Native Plant Trust
If you've never been to Garden in the Woods, you should plan a trip this spring.  The name says it all-- it's a garden carefully planted with New England native plants in the woods in Framingham, Massachusetts.  You can stroll their gentle trails, buy or bring a picnic, and then finish your day with a trip to their small, but packed plant shop.  Check out their plant lists-- you can order plants for pick up during the growing season.
